House Rejects Constitutional Amendment Banning Gay Marriage by Vote of 236 to 187

WASHINGTON Jul 18, 2006 (AP)— The House on Tuesday rejected a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, ending for another year a congressional debate that supporters of the ban hope will still reverberate in this fall's election.

Big happy! Now if we can just convince enough people here in Virginia that enshrining discrimination in our state constitution (again) is not a good idea, i'll be a happy camper. I like living here, though that could be enough to drive me back into DC if it passes.

I wish you and everyone else in Virginia good luck stopping that.

In NYS, Eliot Spitzer, the current NYS Attorney General, when he becomes Governor, says that he will push for a gay Marriage rights law here in New York.

I know many people that would love to get married and many weddings I would love to be invited too if they could happen!
