The Wedding March

Date: Saturday, June 3rd 2006
Time: 11:00 a.m. - 4:00pm
Location: Cadman Plaza on the Brooklyn side of the Bridge,
proceeding across the Brooklyn Bridge to Manhattan, ending with a festival in Battery Park.

Join Marriage Equality New York (“MENY”) in New York’s largest community marriage rights action on Saturday, June 3rd 2006. Bring your friends, family, and neighbors to the third annual march for equal marriage rights. The LGBT community will be out in full force with our straight allies, supportive politicians, religious groups, and businesses.

Come to The Wedding March, as we walk together to show that we want marriage equality rights, not only in New York, but all across the nation.

With the ruling of Justice Ling Cohen in 2004 stating the denial of equal access to civil marriage is unconstitutional, now is the time to send the message that LGBT New Yorkers demand to be recognized and to receive equal treatment for their partners and families under the law to Albany.

This is really important with the the case thats in court right now plus vote on the Federal Marriage Amendment on June 7th the time is now to show your support.

So come and march

please post this on your LJ and anywhere you can think of and help spread the word

and speaking of reminders

I am still looking for pigeons volunteers to help me carry the banner for the Queens Chapter of PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) in THIS Sunday's (June 4th 2006) Queens LGBT Pride Parade & Multi-Cultural Festival.

We should meet there there at 11:30AM somewhere [behind Generation Q] on 89th Street Near 37th Avenue in Jackson Heights Queens (NYC).

Please email me at lordlnyc@livejournal.com or at willhelp@pflag-queens.org if you are able to help.

Thank you!

Ok, first there was the Poly meetup get together that I could not get to due to a major traffic jam in Queens. Now tonight, there is this major storm that KO's the subways in Queens (see below). I made it as far as the subway enterence of the 71st-Continental Avenue–Forest Hills station before I was stopped by all the people outside tellling me there are NO trains to Manhattan (E F R V at that stop). I just hope I am "allowed" to make the Poly meeting on the 16th.

This is more proof that what Brenda and I would say, that MTA stands for Messed-up Transit Authority)!

The following information was posted in the newyorkers community.

According to the Transit Authority, track flooding has knocked out or delayed subway service on several lines.

Service on the E, F, V and R are all suspended in Queens due to flooding at 36th Street; there is no 5 service south of E. 180th Street in the Bronx, also due to flooding; there is no 1 service between Times Square and 137th Street in Manhattan; and no 2 service between 110th Street and Times Square in Manhattan.
