Where were you when Kennedy was shot? [Nov. 22nd, 2006|10:57 am]

It is now 43 years since President Kennedy was assassinated. It happened at 1:30PM (EST) and at the time I was 5 years old and in Kindergarten.

Back then Kindergarten was only 1/2 a day for me and I believe I was in the Morning session. Therefore, I was already home when it happened. [Of course my memory could be wrong and I was in the afternoon session and was sent home].

For many years after that the big question people would ask each other was "Where were you when Kennedy was shot?".

So where were you?

ps: if you want to call this a mini MEME you can ;-)

In my second-grade class. They called an emergency assembly and we got to watch TV news for an hour.

When Kennedy was shot, my father was in the Air Force, stationed in Tawain at that time, and my mother was a sophomore in high school. They would not meet until February 1969.

The announcement about his being shot interrupted a book report my mother was giving, which she never had to finish, and school was out the rest of that day and the next. I never asked my father about his experiences with that event.
